Mary grew up on her grandfather’s small farm just outside Washington, DC. Her interest in gardening developed at an early age and continues to this day.
Mary began drawing and painting at an early age and fell in love with woodcuts when she made her first relief print in the 4th grade. She studied printmaking at Smith College.
After graduating from college she moved to a small hill farm in northern Vermont with her husband Tom. The years on the farm became the inspiration for many of her prints.
